Ely, NV -- As we approach 2015, it appears that some people think it's the dawn of 1955 by their actions and behaviours.
Racism and intolerance of outsiders is rising to levels not seen since the days of the Klan. Large scale attacks by people who believe that living here all their lives gives them something akin to “white privilege”; if you weren't born here, shut up, sit back, and let those of us who know better tell you what to believe.
Until the last couple of weeks, I'd never experienced racism. It's ugly, it's brutal, and it's stupid. Racism generally rears it's head when small minded people find out how incompetent they really are. These small minded people are similar to some local small minded politicos who brand those they oppose as “domestic terrorists” simply because they disagree with them. When in fact the only “domestic terrorism” is self inflicted by their small minded and very Gestapo like tactics.
Politics in 2015 appears to be heading the way of the extreme racism of the 1950's. If you disagree with the chattering class you will be vilified and excoriated and made an example of. The chattering class has already tried to make an example out of me. They won't do it again if I have anything to say about it.
