Good Old Boy Network orders Status Quo for City Council

The Good Old Boy network fears change and reform.

Why else would a number of "concerned citizens" send out a mailer this week telling you who to vote for?

The letter, signed by : Madeline Liebsack, Terry & Linda Bellander, Maie Carrick, Mark Bassett, Shane Bybee, John C. Gianoli and Elaine Smith, endorses both incumbents in seats 1 and 3, and endorses Don Purintan for Bybee's seat 5.  Yes Virginia, Term Limits are a very good thing!

(Sidebar:  Isn't the fact that Mark Bassett, executive director of the Railroad Museum, writing such a letter a conflict of interest since he answers to the city?)

Handfasting - Religious Ritual or Alimony Fraud?

When you get close to a breakthrough, and your friends and family send the positive energies to make such an event happen, you know that Lucifer just hates that and has to muck around with you.

So after I thought we had an absolute victory in my quest to give Cheryl the biggest, best wedding I could, Old Beelzebub throws us a curve.

Did you know that a Wiccan Handfasting is a wedding, but isn't a wedding? To be honest, I didn't know what a Handfasting was! And I considered myself fairly knowledgeable of Wicca and the earth religions.

Peace at last.

I've know this day was coming for weeks. But when it finally came, I had no idea what to expect.

The ex-wife, the one whom for much of our eleven year marriage, was unbearable for her and for me, sent me a change of address. She sent the change of address in, of all things, a Christmas card. Ironic, since the change of address arrived on February 8, one day after I had sent the monthly Spousal Support. Even more ironic was on the return address spot of the card. Not her name, but her and her boyfriend's name, written as if they were man and wife.

Before you renew your membership in Public Radio...

....now, I have been a supporter of Public Radio for years as Listener Supported Radio.  I think that's valuable.  As long as it provides a service.

Now, I've been here in Ely since 2008 and I have noticed that with the first snowfall every year WITHOUT FAIL the local NPR station, which is actually a repeater of KNPR in Las Vegas, goes off the air.

The reason:  No one can get to the facility to reset the overload switches.  Now, mind you, they say they can do that remotely, but it has never worked.

So our first big snowfall, and yep, they're gone.  Weeks later, they're still gone.

Liars figure.....

It's funny how people like to play fast and loose with the facts.

I heard from a person I consider a reputable source this morning that I had been FIRED from KELY when I left the station's employ last year.

I wasn't fired.  I quit.

Don't believe me?  Look at the piece that I wrote last year about my public statement about the format change.  Look at what I wrote following my resignation to clarify misinformation about my departure at the time.  If need be, I will publish my entire resignation letter on this blog.  At this point, what have I got to lose?

I came in to KELY to take the radio station, make it important to the community, and apart from a paycheck, received zero support in the things that were important.  Zero.

Now this town is without a voice.  For now.  The FCC on Friday made some moves toward a Low Power FM Service that could be wonderful.  Just need a board and some money.

Let's talk.  Seriously.

The JAM song

I Love this song, but never saw this video until today.  Tells it all, really.

There was a great KVIL Jingle...It's a shame what happened to radio...but it wasn't a JAM jingle....

Forget Party Politics, let’s get back to doing the People’s Business!

The hue-and-cry over the Ron Paul supporters taking over the Nevada GOP is just ridiculous.

Is it the Paulites’ fault that the alleged mainstream GOP rank and file couldn’t be bothered with participating?  I know that most conservatives actually, you know, work for a living?  But still, if your party isn’t motivating the base enough for them to attend the caucuses that set policy and elect representatives, that tells me that your state party is as ineffective and impotent as many of the people you’ve elected over they last half-dozen years.

Let’s face it.  A lot of people who believed in true constitutional reform and smaller government actually bought into the GOP line.   It’s a line that has been proven inaccurate consistently since 2000.  Government has grown in leaps and bounds, and since the current congress and president were elected, it has skyrocketed.

I’ll say it.  Saying that Mitt Romney is a better presidential candidate than Barack Obama is like saying that you’d rather live next door to the Unabomber than Osama Bin Laden.  Neither choice is a good one.

I will not recite the litany of good and bad points about both men.  Suffice it to say that, paraphrasing either Max Lerner or Jery Garcia, the lesser of two evils is still evil.

My vote never gets cast with evil.
